Why You Should Take a Call to Action Seriously

There are many reasons you should be paying special attention to the blog articles on your website. A well-written article with high-quality content and relevant keywords go a long way in helping your brand stand out in a highly competitive space, helping you get noticed by your target audience. That said, an important piece of the puzzle is ensuring that you use the right call to action (CTA) in your blogs and social media posts. This will motivate your audience to react and respond to your posts with comments and likes.

What Is a Call to Action?

A CTA is basically a message that is conveyed to the customer – it prompts them to respond in certain ways. For example, a marketing video on YouTube may have a call to action at the end of the clip that urges the viewer to like, share, and subscribe to the channel. Or, a newsletter may encourage a reader to support the writer by donating a small amount of money to keep the newsletter running. You’ll often spot statements such as “buy me a coffee” or “click on this link to show your support." These messages often include links that allow the viewer to donate money online. By the way, “buy me a coffee” is just code for donating a small amount of cash to support someone with a newsletter.

The point is simple – a CTA helps with conversions and pushes your target audience to react in beneficial ways to your brand. Without a CTA, a reader may move on to the next distraction or viral meme on the internet. A strong CTA, on the other hand, can get your customer to feel a lot more involved. Sometimes, CTAs are relatively basic and are just buttons with links and short messages, such as “unlock this article for $1” or “subscribe to our newsletter for regular updates, delivered straight to your inbox.”

Why Is a CTA important?

The best CTAs can help spread brand awareness and get your customers to sit up and take notice. They’re highly effective marketing tools that can strategically inform, educate, and convert an occasional reader into a regular consumer of your content.

You can use CTAs in creative ways, such as:

• Encourage your followers to comment on your social media posts with intriguing questions they feel compelled to answer.
• Add links to similar articles on a blog piece and encourage them to read further if they’re hunting for more articles like the one they’re reading (for example, you could write, “Like this and want to read more? Here’s a link to our top ten CTAs for businesses.)
• You can also add a colorful pop-up box that is catchy and interesting to read. For instance, you could write, “Are you a jaded entrepreneur who needs a little help navigating your tasks? Our virtual assistants are here to help take some of that load off your shoulders. Book a free consultation with us today.”
• Another smart way to attract attention is to use a pop-up box to offer a discount code to those who subscribe to your company’s e-mails. Here’s a bonus tip: Use relatable language and maintain a conversational tone with your readers. It’ll help you in more ways than one!

Remember: the right CTAs can help your company grow at an impressive rate and ensure your target audience stays hooked to the brand.

Get to know your audience.

Before crafting your content strategy and CTAs, understand your audience and figure out what they’re looking for. If you’re an entrepreneur with a gym of your own and want more people to sign up for memberships at your fitness club, post interesting social media posts with solid CTAs.

You could start an online contest and offer a 10 percent discount to the winners – whenever you post content about the contest, include a compelling CTA such as “Want to get 10% off on your gym membership at So Fit & Lit? Participate in our #getfitandlit contest now and post a reel with your favorite workout move. Show us what you've got, whether it’s squats, burpees, or mountain climbers. Don’t forget to tag us and add the hashtag #getfitandlit.”

Test Your CTA

A lackluster CTA won’t make much difference and will probably not motivate your reader to react. You’ve got to put some thought into crafting engaging CTAs. Brainstorm with your team to test CTAs and determine which options hit the mark. You can even try different CTAs on your social media channels and analyze conversion rates and metrics to find out which option works well among your followers.

Don’t Give Up

It might feel like a daunting task to come up with solid CTAs, but a strong CTA will help your brand achieve more recognition and success at every step. Whether you’re promoting your business’ services or talking about your company’s products, attractive CTAs will keep your target audience engaged. Good CTAs help you with the following:

Attract more customers.

• Encourage readers to sign up for your newsletter, download your guides, or buy your products and services.
• Attract individuals who would like to work with your team. For example, if you’re a marketing agency and offer digital marketing services to B2B companies, you can include a pop-up box with information about your company’s complimentary 30-minute consultations.
• Increase brand awareness.
• Help your business stand out from the competition.

The idea is straightforward but powerful. Use relevant and creative CTAs to interact with your target audience directly. The possibilities are endless – offer your readers incentives to sign up and interact with your brand on social media platforms and your website, show them what’s up for grabs, and give them a reason to stay.
