How Luneer got its name

Luneer Mgmt was born on a mountaintop under a full moon – not literally, but it's a pretty cool origin myth, don't you think? If you intuited the moon connection from the name Luneer, you're not imagining things. At the start of this new year, we’d love to share a bit more of our story with you and explain how it guides our vision as a company. 

If you’re a small business owner or someone thinking about starting a small business, chances are you're curious about how people come up with those classic-sounding brands. You know, the name that fits so well you think, "Of course, it couldn't have been called anything else." Like many brand names, Luneer is a made-up word. Among the first steps in brainstorming our identity was running over 200 words through a name generator (Yep, we use them too!). That helped us zero in on the options most aligned with our essence and values. At a certain point, with enough creative juices flowing, the name just... came. It was like a key that fits perfectly in a lock – one click and the door opens.

Believe it or not, we do our best strategizing – on how to grow our team and serve our clients even better – during mountain hikes. Inspiration tends to strike on those long upward climbs. There’s nothing like it. Our mission at Luneer Mgmt is to help you walk on the mountains of the moon. Let us explain what we mean by that.

When you start your own business, you're setting out into uncharted territory. But there are many other mountainous frontiers out there, so why are we so into the moon? The moon inspires us because it remains a powerful constant source of light amid continual change.

If you think about it, the moon exerts a powerful positive influence on our world.

It guides everything from tides to (as many believe) feminine menstrual cycles. We measure time by the moon, and people speak of the new/full moon energy. Many cultures, communities, and individuals (including a few members of our own team) enjoy moon ceremonies and celebrate lunar phenomena, such as the flower and harvest moons. Throughout history, moon deities have embodied generative female strength – an especially meaningful connection for our women-owned business! Even the saying "Once in a blue moon" indicates a rare, magical event, like when the right people come together at the right time. Drawing on all these qualities and associations, Luneer is committed to playing a positive, transformative role in the lives and businesses of our clients.

Change is inevitable, but the moon remains predictable.

Perhaps even more than its power, the moon inspires us with its consistency amid uncertainty. No matter what’s happening in life, whether we’re on that mountaintop or not so much, the one constant we can be certain of is constant change. And yet, amid the seeming chaos of daily life and world events, the moon presents a source of stability. The moon changes along with us in the sense that it waxes and wanes. But its phases are predictable and orderly, proceeding exactly as planned – the most perfect workflow imaginable (if you’ll indulge our inner business strategist for a moment!). Thanks to astronomy, even phenomena like lunar eclipses can be predicted well in advance. With the moon, there are no surprises. Through all the ups and downs of life, we can rely on this mysterious glowing orb for consistency amid change.

It’s an interesting coincidence that the name “Luneer” occasionally gets mistaken for “Linear” – as in the straight line between two points. With our lunar understanding of cycles and phases, we know that growth is never linear. There will always be ups and downs on your hike to the summit. However, we know the summit is there waiting for you. We see it, and we’re committed to helping you chart the most strategic path up there.
